<br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION <br />County of Hawaii Camping Regulations <br /> <br />1.Camping permits are required and can be obtained from the Department of Parks & Recreation in the following ways: <br /> <br /> <br />In-office during normal business hours <br /> <br /> <br />Online via the internet at <br /> <br /> <br />2.Camping permits may be issued to any person eighteen years of age or older. An adult must accompany minors. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Holders of a camping permit shall upon request show the permit to police, security officers, park caretakers or any <br /> <br />department personnel. <br /> <br />4.Camping is allowed at each site for a period of one week during the period from June 1 thru August 31 and two weeks <br /> <br />stst <br />during the other months of the year. All permits shall be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. <br /> <br />5.The installation of permanent camping facilities is prohibited. Tents must be freestanding. <br /> <br /> <br />6.Camping within 25 feet of any water hydrant, main road or defined watercourse is prohibited. Camping is allowed in <br /> <br />designated areas only. <br /> <br />7.The gathering of wood for use as fuel in campgrounds or picnic areas shall be limited to dead material on the ground. <br /> <br /> <br />8.It shall be unlawful for any person to take or permit any dog, cat or other domestic animal, whether loose or on a leash or in <br /> <br />a restraint, on or about any County beach park. This shall not apply to service animals that are individually trained to <br />perform tasks for people with disabilities or for purposes of law enforcement by law enforcing agencies of the Federal, State <br />or County governments. Service animals are working animals not pets. <br /> <br />9.The maximum number of campers permitted at any approved site shall be limited by the capacity of the sanitation system <br /> <br />and other appropriate regulations. <br /> <br />10.Quiet shall be maintained on all campgrounds from 11:00pm – 6:00am. <br /> <br /> <br />11.Check-out time is 12 noon. If the park will be closed on the check-out day, check-out time is by 8:00 a.m. Camping <br /> <br />equipment must be completely removed and the site cleaned before departure. <br /> <br />12.SPENCER BEACH PARK: Security gate is locked at 9:00pm and reopened at 6:00am. In case of emergency, please locate <br /> <br />the security guard on duty. <br /> <br />13.Smoking of cigarettes or use of any tobacco product is prohibited at all County Parks & Recreational Facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />14. Individuals can request for a refund online within "My Reservations" as long as it is at least 15 days prior to the camping <br />check-in date. Upon approval, refunded amount will be issued directly to the purchasing credit card if request was <br />submitted within 40 days from the initial purchase date. Otherwise, a paper check will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks. <br /> <br />Refund requests less than 15 days from the check in date must be made in writing and attached to the applicant’s permit <br />copy and submitted to the Department of Parks & Recreation office within one working day prior to camping reservation <br />date.
