'�tV OF M�� <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -(44 .-5',Wv 14 STATE OF HAWAII <br /> l,�TE OF'H�,Nr <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 271. 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HONPA <br /> HONGWANJI MISSION OF HAWAII FOR THE 11TH ANNUAL PARADE AND <br /> FESTIVAL FOR THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE. <br /> WHEREAS,the 11th Annual Parade and Festival for the United Nations International <br /> Day of Peace (Peace Day Parade and Festival) is a campaign to promote Peace Day in Hawai`i; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai`i, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization, is part of the Peace Committee of Honoka`a that is coordinating the Peace Day <br /> Parade and Festival, which has become the most elaborate and significant event of its kind in <br /> Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, in addition to the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai`i, the Peace <br /> Committee of Honoka`a also consists of the Arc of Kona, First United Methodist Church, <br /> Hamakua Lions Club, Friends of the Honoka`a Library, Honoka`a High and Intermediate <br /> School, United Nations Association of Hawai`i, Carteret Atoll Project, Honoka`a Business <br /> Association, Honoka`a Seniors Club, West Hawai`i Mediation Center, and Blue Zones Project- <br /> Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the parade and festival will be held in Honoka`a on September 23, 2017, <br /> and events throughout September will include a Peace Poster Contest,,a Day of Mindfulness, <br /> Read for Peace, "Wine at 5" (Blue Zones Project), and a 199,000 origami cranes exhibition; and <br /> WHEREAS, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai`i is requesting a reimbursement of <br /> expenses for advertising/promotion, stage set-up, insurance, security, and a public address (PA) <br /> system; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai`i for <br /> reimbursement of expenses associated with the Peace Day Parade and Festival. <br />
