STATE OF HAWAII <br /> TE OF. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 266 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br /> UNITED WAY TO SUPPORT ITS MARKETINGBRANDING EFFORTS. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br /> mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier community, and has <br /> been supporting human service agencies and organizations on Hawai`i Island since 1967; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way depends heavily on donations from Hawai`i <br /> Island businesses and residents, yet many do not know there is a distinct difference between <br /> Hawai`i Island United Way and Aloha United Way, which is based on Oahu; and <br /> WHEREAS, all donations made to Hawai`i Island United Way will stay on the Big <br /> Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island United Way is requesting funds to support its <br /> marketing/branding efforts to promote its name through a variety of media sources in hopes of <br /> increasing donations, which will ultimately lead to greater financial support to partner agencies <br /> and service providers on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that work with the <br /> community to address alcohol and drug related issues and promote healthy lifestyles; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island United Way to support its <br /> marketing/branding efforts. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
